Subdivision Stimulation Bryn Mawr, PA
This private residential project resulted from a student who was inspired by the Main Line School Night Garden. The site sits at the only entrance to a subdivision with community green space across from it.
A diverse native palette (with Allium 'Summer Beauty' and Stachy's 'Hummelo', client favorites from MLSN) replaced a shady patch of lawn and mostly ground ivy beneath a large oak.
A rain garden intercepts runoff from the roof preventing it from entering the street and storm sewer.
The garden began in 2020 and has undergone seven expansions in both the front and private backyard. It advances against a sea of invasive species behind a wave of lasagna mulching.
Most significantly the front garden has inspired neighbors. A neighborhood effort is now underway to reforest the community green space after the loss of numerous ash trees to EAB. I consult on the canopy succession plan with trees provided by Radnor Conservancy.
